Cairo & the Pyramids Historical Trips
This Hurghada to Cairo day tour by car lets you see the best-known ancient sites of Egypt in a single day. You are picked up early in the morning at your hotel in Hurghada and driven by private air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo, where your Egyptologist guide meets you. The first stop is the Giza Pyramids complex, which includes the Great Pyramid, two more large pyramids, six small pyramids, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple.
The Great Pyramid was built as the tomb of Khufu, a king of the 4th Dynasty, and is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that still stands. The Sphinx, which combines a lion’s body with a human head, was carved around 4,500 years ago, and the Valley Temple was linked to the funeral rituals of the Old Kingdom, including mummification.
After a lunch break in Cairo, you visit the Egyptian Museum, which opened in 1902 and holds artifacts from across ancient Egyptian history. At the end of the day you are driven back to your hotel in Hurghada. Entrance fees, lunch and mineral water in the vehicle are all included.
